Day ‘N’ Nite

Concept

This project, Day ’N’ Nite, was created during my time at 3D College Denmark as part of a lighting and environment assignment. The goal was to portray the same space under two completely different moods — one filled with daylight warmth and the other with the quiet atmosphere of night. It became an opportunity to deepen my understanding of light direction, tone, and storytelling through environmental design.

Process

I modeled and textured nearly all the assets in the scene myself, with only a few exceptions: the plant, sack of nuts, and carpet. Throughout the process, I focused on creating believable materials and balanced compositions across both lighting setups. The project also helped me refine my Photoshop workflow for post-processing and color adjustments, ensuring each version carried its own distinct mood.

Expermentation

Day ’N’ Nite was also my first time experimenting with tyFlow, which I used to simulate the curtains. Exploring cloth simulation for the first time opened up new creative possibilities, and it was a tool i was pleased to integrate into future projects.

Reflection

This project taught me how light shapes emotion and space — not just technically, but narratively. Balancing two opposing atmospheres within the same scene pushed me to think more deeply about design consistency and visual storytelling. Day ’N’ Nite stands as a small but meaningful step forward in how I approach mood, composition, and realism in 3D.
