Day ’N’ Nite
The same room in two moods, day and night, made at 3D College Danmark. My first project with tyFlow, which I used to simulate the curtains.
Concept
I made Day ’N’ Nite at 3D College Danmark as an assignment in lighting and environment. The goal was to show the same room in two moods: daylight and night. The assignment was about the direction of the light, tone and storytelling.
Process
I modelled and textured almost all the assets in the scene. The exceptions are the plant, the sack of nuts and the rug. I worked on believable materials and balanced compositions in both lighting setups, and used Photoshop for post-processing and colour adjustment, so each version got its own mood.
Reflection
After the Scandinavian kitchen project, I knew how to approach the perspective matching and the lighting, so that part went faster. The night version took the longest, because it had to be lit enough for you to see the room and still look like night. tyFlow was fun to try, because it works a bit like Geometry Nodes in Blender, only in 3ds Max.
Experimentation
It was the first time I used tyFlow. I simulated the curtains with it, and I have used the tool for cloth simulation in later projects.
