BiG-Submam8
Underwater project made over two months at 3D College Danmark. I did the concept, modelling, texturing, rigging and animation myself.
Introduction
I made the project at 3D College Danmark over two months. It started as a simple idea and became an exercise in my own workflow, storytelling and the technical limits of 3D.
Workflow
I handled every stage myself, from concept sketches to modelling, texturing, rigging and animation. The biggest challenges were the underwater environment and making the main character feel alive. The project became a study in atmosphere and movement.
The robot in 3D
Here you can rotate BiG-Submam8 and see the robot from all sides, with the barnacles on the hull. The gripper arm, the camera head and the panel extend as they do in the film, and when the lights are switched on, the propellers behind the grilles start. For the web, I made the model lighter with fewer polygons and baked the materials into one texture.
- Turn on the lights and propellers
- Extend the gripper arm and open the claw
- Extend the camera head and the panel
- Drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom
Conclusion
In BiG-Submam8 I handled the whole process from concept to finished render. The project also showed me how much contributions from others can lift a small idea.
Collaboration
The background music was made by Rumle Andersson, and the coral assets were donated by Simulated Image 3D.
